Postgraduate Research

The objective of the Postgraduate R&D Skills Training Programme (Strand 1) is to provide highly skilled graduates with research and development training – including the disciplines of advanced research techniques and the application of new knowledge and technologies. Ultimately, this leads to the award of a Masters (by Research) degree.

Participating graduates will gain the skills to provide advice and technical support, which will help industry to become and to remain competitive.

The research students are based on campus and each project is supervised by two academic staff from their chosen specialist areas – some supervisory relationships are partnerships with academics from other educational institutions. The programme is two years in duration, during which time students receive an annual student grant as well as funding for travel and materials. The Following students are currently pursuing their Strand 1 Masters by Research projects.
