IADT offer a range of flexible learning programmes that may expand your options for learning for you the student. There are postgraduate programmes, accredited part-time certificates (special purpose awards) and programmes/modules developed for flexible learning.

Special Purpose Awards
There is a range of part-time accredited programme (special purpose awards), mostly 10 ECTS credits for professional development. They range from Creative Writing, to Sport Psychology to Online Business Trading and from Citizenship and Society to Data Visualisation. You can apply directly to IADT email admissions@iadt.ie for further infomation about this process or download an application form here.

Our postgraduate programmes at IADT are flexible. Flexible learning is an approach to learning that expands your choice on what, when, where and how you learn. Flexible learning consists of Irish accredited programme or modules on the National Frameworks of Qualifications that are not facilitated through the CAO.

While full time students study for 60 ECTS credits each year. IADT’s flexible learning provides you with opportunities to;

a) develop your knowledge and skills.
b) keep up to date in your professional area
c) explore a different area or
d) investigate a career change.

Some programmes are flexible because you attend IADT in the evenings or Saturdays or one day a week thus enabling you to combine work or family life and study. Others are flexible because they use elearning combined with attendance at IADT to enable you to learn.

For a 10 credit module your workload is 200 hours of student effort. This includes attendance at IADT, reading, work of projects and assignment, field trips i.e. all the work required to complete the module. Our flexible learning modules use the Institute’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Blackboard. On completion of a flexible learning programme/module you receive a certificate stating the programme/module and the number of credits you have achieved. The certificate is evidence of your learning. If you decide to take your studies further it may be used as part of the admission process.

IADT is one of the partners in the Addressing the Needs of the Knowledge Economy IOTI/DIT Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF2) project funded by the Higher Education Authority (HEA). All of the Institutes of Technology and the DIT are partners in the project.
