Library WebPAC
Library WebPAC
Here’s how to use and take full advantage of the Library WebPAC.
To use the WebPAC:
- Open Internet Explorer
- In the address field enter library.iadt.ie
To Search for an item:
WebPAC can be searched in a number of ways, the most common being: Author, Title, Subject, Keyword.
- To search by Author, use the surname followed by the first name; e.g. Kafka, Franz. To search for Films, use the director’s name; e.g. Welles, Orson
- To search by Title, enter the correct title, e.g. Heart of Darkness
- If you are unsure of the exact title of a book, film or journal it is a good idea to search by Keyword. For example, using the keyword ‘Monet’ would present you with all material with Monet in the title. This field can also be used for more general searches.
To view your record and renew current loans:
You can view your records to see items currently held, due dates, any overdue items and any outstanding fines. To do this, click on the View Your Record button on the Home page. On the next screen complete the following:
- Enter the required details; name and student number
- Click Submit
Here you will see your current holdings and due dates. To renew these items:
- Click the box marked Renew
- Click Renew Selected Items
If the item can be renewed the new due date will be displayed. Items cannot be renewed if they have been renewed previously, are overdue, the user holds other overdue materials or if another person has placed a hold on that item. Videos and 7-Day loans cannot be renewed.
To reserve a book currently on-loan to another library patron:
Library Patrons can reserve items currently on-loan to other students. This can be done for all normal loans (but not 7-Day loans and videos). You can request an item as follows:
- Find the book on the WebPAC catalogue. Above the details of the book there are eight blue buttons detailing various functions.
- Click the button marked Request
- On the next screen type in your name and your student number
- The book you wish to reserve is now highlighted on the screen. Check the box alongside the book
- Finally, click the button Request Selected Item
- When the book is brought back to the Library you will be contacted, typically by phone, and it will be kept for you behind the Issue Desk for three days
- In addition to the above please make sure to regularly check the Noticeboard outside the entrance to the Library as your name will be placed on the list of Reserved Items as soon as the book arrives in the Library.
To make suggestions to the Librarian:
On the Home Page of the WebPAC, click on the button marked Suggestions
On the next screen enter your suggestion in the box provided
When this is completed click Submit Suggestion
If you become lost at any time while using the WebPAC, click the ‘Start Over’ button. This will bring you back to the Search Page
